We are reposting this here so you can find ways to assist Ondoy Victims in this Group as well. This is taken from this page of this BGN page: http://www.bgn.org/news/item/863

Dear BGN friends,

Typhoon Ondoy (international name: Ketsana) wreaked havoc in Metro Manila cities (specifically Marikina, Pasig and Cainta) and 25 provinces last Saturday, September 26, 2009. It left almost 800,000 people temporarily homeless and in despair. The death toll as of today numbers at 246.

Outpouring of support from different national governments, multilateral agencies, international non-profit groups and individuals is overwhelming. And, many of you, friends from the Brain Gain Network, from all over the world emailed us asking how you can help the affected. Some even asked if we knew ways to assist specific friends or relatives. Surely every little thing counts and is deeply appreciated.

As part of our efforts to help our displaced families and communities, we at the Brain Gain Network have joined in donating food and clothing through local organizations we are familiar with and whom we trust to be good stewards of the assistance.

Some of those in the immediate BGN team are volunteering their time to the Philippine National Red Cross and their local churches to pack items. In fact, the NarraVC-Stratpoint Team who support this web service will be donating and packing goods this Friday, October 2 at the Red Cross, Pasig, Rizal Chapter.

We at BGN would like to share with you, who can't be in the Philippines, ways to reach out to as many people, how to send donations and provide other resources to further augment provisions provided by our national and local governments, socio-civic groups and individuals here.

While we are unable to guarantee that your donations will be used exactly as you envisioned, we made efforts to vet the names we are sharing and at least make sure that these are reliable organizations with good reputations.

As always, when responding to calls like these and when sending financial contributions we advice you to double check on your intended recipient (hence, we added contact details from the groups gathered).

Below are some donation conduits you can course your contributions to:

Philippine National Red Cross

The Philippine National Red Cross is accepting cash and check donations. If you are based in the Philippines, they can arrange for a donation pick-up. A list of their peso, dollar, yen and euro accounts can be located at this link http://www.redcross.org.ph/Site/PNRC/wtd.aspx.

For your donations to be properly acknowledged by the PNRC, please fax the bank transaction slip at telephone numbers +63-2-5270575 or +63-2-4040979. Don't forget to indicate your name, address and contact number.

Donations via credit card is also possible. Submit to them via fax the name of the card member, billing address, contact numbers (such as phone and mobile), credit card number, card expiration date, CCV2/CVC2 (last three digits at the back of the credit card) and the amount to be donated.
