Here's the question: Is there any website on the web that offers Real Estate brokers the ability to plot the properties they are selling on a wiki website.

2nd question: Has anyone ever thought of using weather balloons or gps controlled RC planes to take photos of the surrounding countryside, and use it for government census, spatial marketing research, remote sensing, city visualization and yes, real estate brokerage ?

It's not exactly a wiki website, but Haybol (http://www.haybol.ph) provides this kind of service.

Thank you for that info. It saved me a lot of trouble. I'm actually an SME business researcher for our company in Cagayan de Oro, Northern Mindanao, and I'm in contact with a local University, trying to find something where my after hours research hobbies can be used to discover a new product or service (nothing too fancy, or that requires building something from scratch), that can be use for commercial gain, or community development.

The Idea of gps controlled rc planes or helicopters taking photos of communities seemed to have far reaching implications, especially if  you can use it to study, or emphasize characteristics about the community, that could be useful for commercial purposes, like choosing the best location for a business establishment, or knowing how a certain industry is grouped, or how floods and droughts affect it, all this might be possible if there was an inexpensive, expendable eye in the sky that could do the reporting.

This research is actually out of the core competence of our companies here, and I am just starting out knowing how to build an SME type research group ( practically very few in the Philippines I know of), but I am hopeful that this technology in the coming years will really give an impact statement to cities everywhere. I am not asking for anything except to hear comments on technology and I Fully support a Brain Gain in this country, if I could find more of my breathren willing to use practical or ingenious technologies for commerce and community assistance.

Hi Michelangelo!

You can get in touch with Dr. Gregory Tangonan of the Ateneo Innovation Center. He is also part of the Brain Gain Network (ergo, you can search and connect with him here).

One of his students, Matthew Cua designed an RC helicopter fielded to take pictures and feed information to farmers regarding weather/ climate and soil conditions to help them prepare for the next harvest season or mitigate disasters.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Nicole

Dear Ms. Paterno,

Thank you very much for your advise. I was able to contact Mr. Matthew Cua. He was very friendly and approachable. The technology looks promising. Just needs more research.

Best Regards,
