PCARI is a collaboration between the Philippine government, leading Philippine universities, the University of California (UC) Berkeley, and UC San Francisco. Under the guidance of Dado Banatao, PCARI establishes two joint research institutes in two key technology areas: Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Health and Biotechnology, which have both been identified as the focus for the development of industry in the Philippines.
The Cloud Computing project (“CloudTop”) of the DOST ICT Office (ICTO) aims to develop the appropriate technology to fulfill the Department of Education’s mandate and the President’s directive of providing “education for all”.
CloudTop is an innovative technology that will level the education field by making it possible for students and teachers to have access to digital information and teaching materials at the most cost-efficient way possible and collaborate to pool and share expertise nationwide. This will enhance students’ capabilities to better equip them for higher education or employment.
